International Restaurateur George Chen has secured the historic address of Marshall Mansion in the old French Concession for his latest venture. His partner is H. Delano Roosevelt (FDR¡¯s grandson) and this American Steakhouse was opened on September 13, 2007.

SHANGHAI, CHINA, September 1, 2007 ¨C George Chen, creator of many internationally acclaimed restaurants, Betelnut, Shanghai 1930, Shikumen Bistro, etc. has teamed with his long-time friend Delano Roosevelt to create the finest Steakhouse outside of Chicago. At Roosevelt Prime Steakhouse, we¡¯re taking it back to the classics. Thick, juicy Prime Steaks that emerge perfectly cooked from our custom stone oven. Roosevelt Prime Steakhouse is located in the heart of Shanghai¡¯s old French Concession, tucked away off the street at 160 Taiyuan Lu, beside the soon-to-open Marshall Mansion Boutique Hotel. The steakhouse, with its velvet curtains, dark wood paneling and leather banquette seating provides a luxurious alternative to Shanghai¡¯s contemporary dining scene.

The name Roosevelt evokes a certain sense of history ¨C as does the memorabilia from FDR¡¯s private library on display at the throughout the restaurant. President Roosevelt sent General George C. Marshall to rebuilt China after WW II and now we have a Roosevelt Steakhouse at Marshall Mansions bridging a half century of art, culture and history. The evocative atmosphere is that of the old world: Clubby comfortable surroundings with easy sophistication. Our four private rooms, with antique wood tables and oil paintings of the old West can accommodate large parties. The backlit bar serves some of the best martinis in town, along with a wide selection of single malt scotches, cognacs and ports, and our wine list features both Old World gems and California cult wines found nowhere else in China.

But here it¡¯s all about the beef ¨C All the steaks are imported from the best packing houses in Chicago and the cattle is raised in America¡¯s heartland, the Midwest grazing fields. The finest grain fed and corn finished cattle and only USDA certified Natural Black Angus and top Prime selections will be served here at Roosevelt Prime Steakhouse. Roosevelt serves steakhouse steaks ¨C big, thick cuts that are all 16ozs (448g) or more. Diners can choose various cuts from tender filet mignon, flavorful New York Strip, marbled bone-in ribeye or a real Prime aged Porterhouse. For lighter fare, the kitchen also serves many other steakhouse favorites such as grilled salmon steaks, a juicy roast chicken, or whole roasted sea bass. Pair that with many creative starters or our classic Caesar salad prepared tableside and finish with one of Roosevelt¡¯s delicious, homemade desserts. This is honest, delicious dining with superior ingredients you won¡¯t find anywhere else in China.

Roosevelt Prime Steakhouse is located at 160 Taiyuan Lu, between Yongjia Lu and Jianguo Lu just about 10 minutes from Xintiandi, Jing An Temple and Xujiahui Circle. Dinners are served daily from 5PM until 10PM Monday to Thursday and 11PM on Friday and Saturday. We are closed for lunch. Reservations are recommended and required for Prime Steak orders. Banquet facilities are available and private function events are welcome.
